Sunbreaker Cove is located 45 km North-West of the city of Red Deer, Alberta on the North-East side of Sylvan Lake. The name Sunbreaker Cove came from combining Sunhaven, The Breakers and Glenn's Cove. Glenn's Cove came for an old farm stead that originally was in the near vicinity of the present day village.
A message from the CAO:
Hello!
As summer is quickly approaching we have a couple of updates from the Summer Villages on Sylvan Lake administration office that I would like to highlight. This is the time of year that things start to ramp up for us, and likely for you as well!
First of all, we have our municipal complaint form. If you have a bylaw complaint or would like to get through to municipal enforcement, please follow the process here: http://www.sylvansummervillages.ca/municipal-enforcement. As always, if you have an emergency, please contact 911.
Secondly, we are already coming into wildfire season. The summer villages will issue a fire ban in collaboration with our surrounding counties. When a fire ban is called we will update the website and drop the signs at the entrances to the summer villages. It will also be updated on https://www.albertafirebans.ca/ where you can see any active fire bans!www.albertafirebans.ca/
Finally, we have a change coming to our administration office. Due to the unfortunate rise in verbally abusive and potentially unsafe behavior towards our staff and councils, we are installing a visitor management access point in our office. You will still be able to drop by the office and make a payment or pickup applications or documents from the front desk. However, we are moving to an appointment based system if you are looking to meet with a member of our team. This allows our staff to ensure they are ready and prepared to meet with you to serve your needs, and also ensures the appropriate person will be here to meet you, as we are often out and about in the villages during the summer. As a small team it is much more efficient for us to be able to plan ahead. So, if you are looking to meet with a member of staff, please call ahead and make an appointment. Otherwise our front desk will be happy to schedule an appointment for you. Phone calls and emails are another great way to have your questions answered or set up a meeting. Please make sure to leave a voicemail if someone in the department you are contacting cannot pick up - again we are often out in the villages especially at this time of the year.
Thank you very much! Here's to the start of another great summer.
