A big thank you to Lacombe County for funding a portion of the 2022 Annual Regatta!
The 2022 Regatta was held July 29th to July 31, 2022.
The Regatta started on Friday night with a Tie-dye tee shirt event held at Glens Cove. The event was a big success, everyone brought their own tee shirts and the supplied Tie-Dye colors where all used up with in 30 minutes. Thanks to the Swanson’s for holding this event a second year in a row.
Friday evening also saw the start of the scavenger hunt that lasted through out the weekend. Thank You to the Honeker family for arranging this event.
The Saturday morning greeted us with a beautiful blue-sky morning and warm temperatures. It was a pleasant surprise to see the Mosquitoes had calmed down and everyone didn’t need a pint of bug spray to be outside. The Saturday morning started off at Glens Cove with a poker chip hunt on the main beach. This event was very well attended and all the sand on the beach was turned over by hand several times. Thank You to the Honeker family for arranging this very popular event.
This year a new twist to the Regatta was added with a Radar Cage fastest pitch and fasted slap shot. There was a lineup from the youngest to the oldest to show off their skills and claim the title of the fastest. Thanks to the Mann Family and the Brooks Family for suppling the equipment and setup. After the poker chip hunt the land races were started. There were alot of people were in attendance for the races, young and old had a great time with some fierce competition. There were so many people in some age groups it was necessary to run the same age group in several heats as there was not enough space to accommodate them. The land races concluded and Hot Dog lunch was served with water, chips, cookies and condiments. Thank You to the Friesen, Matthes, and Mckay Families for getting supplies, cooking, and serving lunch to all the hungry participants.
The family relay race was conducted after lunch had been concluded and followed with water races. Thank You to the Mann, Brooks, Keiboom, Perenteau , and Mickelson families for getting things setup, organizing and coordinating the entire weekend events and making the 2022 Regatta a huge success.
The Regatta was concluded after several rain delays with an exceptional fireworks display arranged and set off by the Schmaltz family. Special Thank You to David Smejkal and Kevin Bass for helping setup and set off the Fireworks display. Thank You to Deb Kominko for judging the sandcastle competition on the Sunday morning. Thank you also to Pat and Patty that live on the left side of Glens Cove for helping clean the fireworks up off the beach the following morning.
It is also important to thank the Summer Village and all the staff that helped make the Regatta a successful event by putting on the Regatta sign, removing the Bollards.
Without the Summer Villages financial support, the Regatta would not be possible.
