Golf Carts on Public Spaces – Friendly Reminder from Municipal Enforcement
With the Town of Sylvan Lake approving a pilot program allowing golf carts on certain public and municipal lands, walkways, and roadways, residents may begin to notice an increase in their use within town limits.
A similar pilot program is also in place in Half Moon Bay; however, it is important to note that this program is separate and not correlated with the Town of Sylvan Lake’s initiative.
This serves as a friendly reminder that these allowances do not extend into surrounding Summer Villages or neighbouring jurisdictions. In those areas, golf carts continue to be classified as prohibited miniature motor vehicles and are not permitted on public roadways or municipal lands.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with local bylaws and jurisdictional boundaries before operating a golf cart to ensure compliance and promote safety for all roadway and pathway users.
Thank you for your cooperation.
